My gravid female never had her POS and never had an intermediate shed either, so I'm using the ovulation date as my guide. I believe her to be 133 days past ovulation now, making her 10 days overdue according to Jeff's article that lists an average of 123 days past ovulation. She had her waxy stool, or at least I think she did, on Sunday - day 130, but she is still not very active. Just curled up on one side of the cage or the other. Just curious if any of you have records of ovulation date to birth. Also, how many days after the waxy stool were the babies born?

Thanks for any info.

I don't have any data for you, Matt but 130 days from ovulation does not sound way too long. I have seen many litters this season go 10 to 20 days overdue and still deliver healthy babies. At least you are past the point of premature delivery and/or the probability of getting a bunch of slugs.

Please keep us updated as to her progress.

Denny,
I'm not too worried about her, in fact I am somewhat relieved that she has gone this long as this is the first breeding for her, the male, and myself. Like you said, no premies. I am just impatient and curious about the waxy stool. Everything I have read says that this is a good indicator that the babies are coming, but she doesn't seem to be very active. Just stays curled up and continues with her thermoregulating.
Anyhow, she is a 66% het albino and was bred by a 100% het, so I'm anxious to see what comes out.

Thanks for the reply,
Matt

Well she finally gave them up this morning at 138 days post ovulation. 26 live babies and 1 deformed with no slugs. Mom, who was a 66% poss. het albino proved herself out. This was my first attempt at breeding, and I couldn't be happier.

Thanks for looking,
Matt

Just a question if the Mom was 66% het and the Dad is 100% het what will the normal babies be? Are they het for albino at all? Sorry I know this is a dumb question I am just so fascinated.(hope I spelled that rite) They are beautiful babies!! Shannon

WOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!

Congratulations to you Matt. I'm glad the babies were born healthy and that mom proved to be a het for you. Those albinos look awesome! :'( :'( :'(

Shannon...to answer your question. The normal offspring will all be 66% het albino. Meaning that 2/3 of the litter are hets and 1/3 normals.

I didn't see anyone respond to this so if someone did sorry for the repeat..

Since albinos were born in the litter the female was proven to be a 100% het albino so in the 100% het to 100% het all of the normal appearing offspring are 66% possible het albino (or a 2 in 3 chance of being het albino)
