Hi everybody,
I finally got my female Argentine Boa a little bit ago (I'm sooo happy ;D), and I know that I am going to be getting a male some time this summer. But I am just looking for some feedback on if there is enough interest out there. I know it's a less commonly known breed, but I would still love to breed them. The only bad part is going to be waiting a few years until they are mature enough (I'm kinda impatient). I will post pics of my female as soon as I can get my hands on a camera.
~Thanks,
Speckles

Argies don't move that well unfortunately, so if you get a pair be ready to hold several for awhile to move them.
You could pick up a male Hypo and make some "Salmontines".
Unless, your against such crosses.
There seems to be a decent amount of interest in the Salmontines though..

My firts boa was a female argentine and that is my problem. In a few years she will be able to breed and i would love to get a male and make some more of these beautiful snakes but Randy is right they dont move very fast. If only i had room for 20 argentines. Oh well maybe in a few years?

I kinda figured that I would get that kind of response. But oh well, knowing me, I will probably just get a male and breed them in a few years anyways and hope that the word gets out on these beautiful boas. Plus, snakes and their off-spring, if just like breeding dogs and wanting to keep all the puppies. If the market for them doesn't pick up in the future I know they will have a good home with me anyways. ;D

I think the future will be bright for these 'misunderstood' beauties...
There are lots of breeders making crosses with these now to make morphs because the amount of red these things will add to albinos and sunglows will be sickening!!! wait and see!
Not alot are talking about it, but it is being done, and you will see them soon!
We already know argentine colombian albino crosses had been sold as 'coral' albinos because of the amount or red added.
The T Positives are moving on up... it's just a matter of time before there is a 'morph' explosion and everyone will be looking for quality normal argentines to produce their own hets and morphs some day.
Here is one of my hopefull studs for this year...
Thanks and take care, Joe Rollo - Bci Joe

Is that first one some sort of cross or a T+? I have never seen one so red and never really understood the whole T+ thing. What is the trait i guess? Is it like albino and anery's or is it more like hypo's?

The first one is a T Positive Albino...
it is recessive, like albinos and anerys, but turns out to act almost like a hypo in the end appearance.

I like that T pos are you breeding him to a normal or another T pos? I may have to look in to getting one of them. I assume they are pretty rare since you dont see much of them and there for pretty expensive especially one that looks like that.
Thanks for the info

I hope to breed him to a normal Argentine, a Salmontine, and an Argentine Albino cross.
yes they are a bit rare...
last years babies ran for $5000-$6000, and that was from one breeder alone, a fairly conservative guy...
I have a feeling that when other breeders start producing them, breeders that produce and sell othet T+'s for $10-$20,000 each, the prices will go up.
At worst, the price will not go down.. not for a while...

It's sick isn't it?
Breeding nice boas really is a rich boys game.
