hello
I have a question concerning geneticist what if you bred an albino pk to strain with a 100%het albino brain sharp strain? what comes from that?

Well, the Kahl and Sharp strain albinos are incompatible, so...
Note: recessive genes in bold for clarity
Original Strain Albino (kkSS) x Sharp Strain Het. Albino (KKSs)
| KS | Ks
------------------------
kS | KkSS | KkSs
So, you get :
50% Het. Original Strain Albino
50% Het. Original Strain Albino, Het. Sharp Strain Albino
100% phenotypically normal however, so you won't know who's who???

Speaking of breeding the two different strains. Anyone know if they ever bred back the origional double hets together to see if a fancier albino ever came from the two genes. Sounds stupid I know, but you never know ;D I'm talking about the origional babies that came from the breeding that proved the two albino strains are incompatible.

I've though about that myself at times... not sure though. I'm just as curious...

maybe a stupid question, but does that mean that you could have a litter with both in them? some originals and some sharp?

In theory the breeding would work like any other double het breeding if both genes are recessive. You would get normals + hets, albinos of both genes + hets, and that 1 in 16 shot would show both albino genes or something else. The 1 in 16 would be able to be bred to a kahl albino and all the offspring would be visual kahl strain albinos het for the sharp strain (work the other way too). Remember this is just my theory, but I do believe this is how it would all work out. Somebody want to prove it for me? ;D or kill it :-/ Hehe... Is this how the paradox came about?

dberes- I agree. The outcome, since they are two simple-recessive
genes at distinct loci the outcome would be:
Ratio Phenotype (Genotype)
1/16 = Sharp/Kahl Albino (kkss)
3/16 = Kahl Albino (1 kkSS, 2kkSs)
3/16 = Sharp Albino (1 KKss, 2 Kkss)
9/16 = Normal (2 KkSS, 2 KKSs, 4 KkSs, 1 KKSS)
However, I don't know what the Sharp/Kahl Albino (kkss) would actually look like, makes you wonder doesn't it? ~Jay
