I have read that the right size for a boas cage is 4'x2'x2' and some of the boaphile cage models are only 12 inches in height.Even though boas generaly don't climb is this high enough for a large adult boa? :-/

I have a number of boas that are 5ft plus and housed in Boaphile cages that are 1ft high. They are doing fine. IMO the most important thing for an adult boa is surface area not height. Besides, you can stack two 1ft cages in the same area as one 2 ft cage. That means more room for more boas ;D! Also don't forget that Jeff offers shelves in his cages, this really helps increase the available surface area within a cage. Here's a pic of my Albino het for Anerytheristic in one of Jeff's shelved cages. This cage happens to measure 4x21/2x2 and has the full lenghth shelf. I have two of these cages and both boas housed in them are 6ft plus and love the shelves! Hope this helps :)!

For what it's worth, I think Jeff is really aiming at the breeder market with his 4'x2'x1' cages...but he's very happy to make them in other sizes, too. I just got one from him that's 48" L x 29" W x 24" H, with a shelf up top and an expandable end.

But who knows...since it sounds like he's working on some arboreal enclosures, maybe he's going to put together a new jig that will allow him to build taller, more "display"-type cages for the non-breeder market (is there such a thing? LOL).

Hope that helps!
