Are the rumors true? 11" Flex-watt runs about 20 watts per foot. Is there a brand that runs lower but still delivers enough heat?

Chad, try sending Jeff an e-mail or instant message. I think he might be able to help you out.

There is a 10 watt per foot version available in different sizes, but it is not available through channels at this point.

The company that bought out Flex Watt, only lists Hagen as a distributor, however again the 10 watt per foot product is not available here. YET. Maybe soon.

I told jeff this the other day and blew his mind. :-)

Required: 1 Ampmeter, 1 fuse cradle, a bag full of fuses. :-)

If you test the current you are running through the whole system of tape past your rheostat, thermostat, whatever and then turn up the temps about 10 degrees and test it again, you will find the amount of current that you want your fuse to blow at. I get fast blow fuses so I know that that is precisely the current level that they will blow at. Then put the fuse in the circuit. If your rheostat fails, you may loose power, but you won't get too much heat.

Heat Tape or FlexWatt is currently in distribution in several sizes.  It can be ordered by the foot.

I have seen 1 1/2",  3" and 11" sizes that are currently available at 20 watts per foot at full power.

Here is a picture of flexwatt.
