Does anyone here use the Big Apple Herp thermostats? How do you feel they compare to the Helix product?

Hey Chad,
I have both and I like things about them both. I like the LED read out from the temp probe but changing the temps is a hassle because you have to hold that button down until it comes around to the temp you want. But you cant beat the accuracy of the Helix thats for sure!
The Big Apple Thermostat works very well to but doesnt give you the temp reading at the probe, you need a seperate thermometer for that. But it is very easy to adjust the temps because it has a dial you turn. It makes tweeking the temp you want very easy.
Either one will serve you well really.

That's good! I bought the Big Apple t-stat, but I've never owned a Helix.

One question. Does the helix make a lot of noise when powered up? My Big Apple system is somewhat noisy when at power. It's almost like a low static noise. I believe I have it all hooked up properly. Anyone run into this?

I cant say that I have heard any noises from mine? I will check though tonight and see. The Helix makes no noise at all that I have noticed.
Good Luck, Craig

My Helix DBS-1000 is absolutely silent, as far as I know...
