Okay! The cage setup odyssey continues...LOL
Here's the deal: I've got my enclosure setup pretty dialed in at the moment, but my one remaining concern is the following: what happens during the summer months when your reptile room gets hot, and you're not there to open a door and/or window to cool it down?
I've got a Helix Controls DBS-1000 that controls my cage's temperature, and will be setting up one of their 1500W systems to control a small oil-filled space heater to maintain the proper ambient room temperature, but now I'm concerned about cooling the room if there's a hot day and I'm not around.
Per recommendations from Helix Controls, I've considered using a fan to blow the hot air out of the room, but now I'm torn as to what type of fan to get. The window-mounted versions commonly available look like they'd be drafty as heck, since they don't have any sort of sealing system...often they require that you keep the entire window open in order for them to function. That would totally blow my night-time temperature maintenance.
Attic fans are another option, but I'd rather not have to cut a hole in my ceiling if I can avoid it (and it wouldn't be all that cheap to install, either).
The only option that looks especially promising is this window fan that I've come across that is actually mounted through the glass of the window, allowing you to keep the window shut but still get the exhaust-fan capabilities. It's got automatically-actuated louvers that open when the fan runs, and close when it isn't running, so that you don't get any nasty draughts:

It's funny, I can find tons of links to this type of fan on European and Asian sites, but this was the only distributor for the through-the-glass type fans that I found in the US...weird.
Anyways, if anyone has some suggestions about how they automatically provide cooling for their snake room on an as-needed basis, I'd love to hear them!
