I know a lot of you breeder types are already hipped to this product, but I just picked one up and all I can say is "wow"! What a great thing this is!

I only had to use mine for about 5 seconds before I realized that this is a really sweet piece of equipment.

For those of you who don't know, a temperature gun is basically a non-contact infrared thermometer that allows you to get instant temp readings just by "pointing and shooting".

Here's a picture that should explain it's function pretty succinctly:

The model that I got, the MT4, includes the little laser sighting beam so that it's quite clear what object or surface you're taking a reading of. It's supposed to be able to read temperatures between 30 and 500*F, within a +/- 3.5*F accuracy. The temps that I got from the gun jibe with all three digital thermometers I've got in my cage, so if they're lying, at least they're all lying consistently ;)

Best of all, it's cheap: this model was $89.99 at my local Napa Auto Parts store. That's pretty darn good value!

Hello everyone, just wondering if you had priced the temp. gun you just bought at other places? Any herp supply or places such as wally mart selling them at competitive prices? I am planning on buying one any day now, but I haven't found the model or place to buy it at yet. Just curious if you have any suggestions as to where else is a good place to buy the temp. guns at. I don't have NAPA store close, thats why I was asking.
Any help will be greatly appreciated,
Thanks and have a good one cwm11.gif

I got mine from Napa for $89.99 (MSRP is $99.99). I got the MT4 model, which includes the laser sighting device. You might try using the store locator on the Napa website to see just how far the closest one is--I ended up driving about 30 minutes down to Ventura (California) to pick mine up, because the two local Napa stores here in Santa Barbara were out of stock.

Here, I did it for you--aren't I swell? :)

18.9 Miles NAPA AUTO PARTS
Key Way Supply Co (814)893-5239
4541 LINCOLN HWY RTE 30 STOYSTOWN PA, 15563

19.6 Miles NAPA AUTO PARTS
Morgan Auto Parts (301)724-1700
446 N MECHANIC ST CUMBERLAND MD, 21502

(Got your ZIP off your website)

A 20 mile drive is definitely worth it for one of these things, if that's what it comes down to. If it's out of stock, they should be able to get one in there for you by the next day or so.

As for buying online as an alternative, I just did a quick search for "Raytek Minitemp MT4" on Google and turned up a bunch of places selling it, some for below MSRP. Of course, you'll have to add shipping in there, but you still should come out okay.

I don't know of any other major chains you could try...maybe Home Depot or Lowes? Good luck!

Hey, thanks a lot for all the help. You really are swell!!! Dr. Steven Hendrix Lange...thats a long name, of course I can't talk, I have about three different names on the forum myself. Dr. Feaster, Gofer, Gregg...what next? I will definately be putting the temp. gun on my list of things to buy right away. Once again, thanks for the help, and when I get one I'll be back on here posting to everyone to let them know how much I love these guns also... Thanks again and good luck with everything.
Have a good one, cwm11.gif

Supercool :)

I think you will enjoy your Raytek quite a bit. I just got mine and it's already indispensable. And my wife likes it when I use the MiniTemp to tell her how hot she is. LOL!

I love mine...they certainly take A LOT of the guesswork out of setting up a cage. Glad you like it! :)
