Sexing

I just acquired two 7' colombian boas that are the same age. My question is can you tell by their heads their sex? The "female" has a smaller head than the "male".

That is not a good way to tell. I would reccomend taking the animals to an experienced herper or herp vet in you area and having them probe the snakes as this is the only way to tell for sure in most cases.

Roy It is more likely that the one with the larger head is the female, all of my males that are as large as a female have a much narrower head. You can also check the anal spurs males typicaly have larger spurs. males will also evert their hempenes sometimes during defication, Having your snakes probed is the most reliable way to tell for sure whether they are male or female
