Hey darren!
If jeff doesn't put some up, I will try to get some pics of the "heat bulge" in my cages. All you see looking at it is another sheet of plastic in the floor of part of the cage.

Morti,
I'd like to see what the instilation looked like as well as a description if possible.... If I'm going to start ordering cages with heat I would like to see what I'm getting first if possible. ;D
Best regards,
Seijin

Here is a picture of the "heat bulge" in my boaphile cage.
I would highly recommend getting the low-wattage heat tape option, it works great. I keep the air temperature in my cage around 82 degrees and the surface temperature of the heat tape is around 105 degrees. b27.gif
Hi,
I like , do you reccomend a thermostat or does the unit need one.
As a keeper of reptiles i really like the second layer of plastic this will slow down that heat a bit an help hold it where you need it.. b27.gif
I have seen the Cobra mats heat glass so fast it almost burn your hand and they are suposed to cycle at 100 deg. s5.gif.I have all my cages tied into thermostat just cause I aint gonna fry my babies cause some dang nab mat failure. s4.gif
I would like to see you build a cage thats 6/3/3 and could be sectioned in the middle for shipping so you don't have to reinvent that shipping.. just a thought

Hi Doug!
We always reccomend running a thermoatat because of how the heat tape works. The absolute worst case scenerio is this... You have the heat tape plugged directly into your wall outlet. The temps in the room are at a nice and livable 73 degrees and the temps inside your cage are absolutely perfect! The warm end has an ambiant of 88 and the cool end is at 80. Life is good. Then one day you come home from a long day at work and open your door... you are expecting the blast of air condition but instead it is actually hotter inside than out! s35.gif you check the room temps on your thermostat and find that it is 98 degrees in your home and it feels like a sauna. Because there was no controls on it, your heat tape keeps on merily chugging along. cwm24.gif
Suddenly you have cooked snakes and you are ticked off with your sick uncle morti because he didn't tell you to plug into a thermostat! cwm8.gif
This is the reason that we are now offering Thermostats for your cages too! ;D We sell an industrial grade, 1500 watt thermostat that controls your heat tape with an on/off system. It has a digital display that is easy to read and digital button controls so it is easy to set. I wire these up with a 6 outlet power strip and a nice long cord. That way if the wors does happen, you are covered! b27.gif The best part is, we are offering these thermostats for the special low price of $90 to our boaphile plastics customers!
See? We cover everything for your snakes! cwm11.gif
Thanks!

Thermostats are the proverbial bling-blingin' shiznit, homie.
Translation: Dude, you're getting a Thermostat!
Or else all the bad stuff that your Sick Uncle Morti told you about will come true. And he forgot to mention that you might come home to find your house burned to the ground. Snake-kabob anyone?
