For those of you who have boaphiles, I'm wondering how secure the latches are? Is the key lock neccessary? I was thinking of seeing if I could get the latches on the end with a single key lock in the center. But I don't know if it's overkill. I don't plan to house huge snakes, but rather: ball pythons, spotted pytons, sand boas and a mandarin ratsnake.

Should I go with the extra center lock or just stick with the latches on the end?

No need for the lock unless you just want to keep someone out of the cage.

I do not use a boaphile (but have looked KSShanes over quite abit) and I think if I order boaphile ever I will definetely want a lock in the center. (I have kids that like herps and want it to prevent them from getting a snake out.) but for security wise I don't see the need in anything lockable as far as keeping the door latched solid.

The two latches by themselves are very secure. Having two kids, I got the key lock for the extra added security. Plus I thought it was a good value. If you feel you don't need the extra lock then its really not necessary.
