I have a quick question I am going to attach flexwatt to the bottom of my only cage. I guess flexwatt says that I am supposed to let airflow through, so I am elevating my cage about a 1/2 inch and i was going to attach the flexwatt to the underside of my cage. my question is how do I attach this flexwatt to the underside? Double sided tape, glue??? or can I simply place the flexwatt under the cage and give a 1/2 inch of space between the cage and the tape, without direct contact to the flexwatt???

I prefer to use duct tape, because I can easily remove it if I want to move the flexwatt. The only draw back is I have to check the tape regularly to make sure it is still sticking (it usually sticks great.) I know people use silicone aquarium sealant, but that's messy, smelly and hard to remove. I would like to hear what others use as well. Also PLEASE don't forget to use a reliable thermostat to regulate your temps! A one square ft section of 20 watt flexwatt can get hot enough to KILL your boa :'(! Sorry if I sound like I'm preaching, I know from personal experience just how hot flexwatt can get. I would hate to see anything happen to your boa! If you are using a thermostat, a half inch space for airflow should be fine! Good Luck with the cage :)!

I use UL rated foil tape. It sticks great to anything and has a UL rating for fire safety. It's expensive, but nice to work with.

Any brands of foil tape you can recommend? Also, how much Flexwatt do you people run underneath a Boaphile Plastics cage? I've got two feet of 11" Flexwatt that I'm testing out right now running longwise underneath the back wall of my cage. I've also got a Helix Controls radiant heat panel that I'm planning on putting on the roof, same placement (back corner with the long end of the panel running towards the middle of the cage, lengthwise). My cage is 48" wide x 29" deep x 24" tall...with a shelf ;)
I don't have my snake yet, so I'm going to be experiementing with different setups to see what gives me the best results. My background ambient temperature is about 70-72* daytime, and lower at night. I've also got a space heater that I'm happy to run if need be. Heating is being controlled via a Helix Controls DBS-1000.
Any help much appreciated! :)

What are the thoughts on installing flexwatt yourself on Jeffs cages? I have some 11" and thermo here and am going to finally order some cages...Oh and it will be a 421D. Thanks,
-Matt
