On September 20th my feonsie (how is that spelled :-/ )is going to bootcamp in Ill for the Navy, hes going to be a MA. I am alittle worried (Ok, I lied. I am really worried.) about him leaving. I trully dont know what to expect I havent been apart from him for more then 2 week for 3 years now. What should I expect? Will he beable to contact me or me contact him?Is there anything that I can give him to take that might help him out? I dont believe that his recurter is telling him every thing he should know. The recurter said that he wont be shipped out. Now I was in ROTC I know that he will be shipped out. If anyone has been in the Navy or still is any feed back would really help. cwm8.gif
Thanks and hoping to hear from someone.

I will be going into the Marines fairly soon(November 15). While he is in boot camp you both can write back and fourth, I dont believe that you can get phone calls unless it is an emergency. From what alot of people say when you do write to him be positive. Boot camp will be hard enough as it is. Hopfully he has fun I know I will.

He left last Thursday. For me it already feels like hes been gone for weeks. I hope that this feeling passes and soon. I havent heard from him scence he left I wish I did as I dont care for air plans which he took to Ill. So far its been really hard on me. Ive been trying to find people to talk to manly old friends.
I think the worst part of it is waking up in the morning, it just doesnt feel right to sleep in a one person bed. Now it makes me really wish I had a dog. ;D My snakes just dont cuddle back. LOL

I hope the time away isn't too stressful on the 2 of you. The boot camp seperation is the main reason my wife didn't sign up for the military after she received her RN degree. I hope the time zips by quickly for you. Try and find a new hobby to keep your mind off of it.

After bootcamp ends in some 9 weeks or so he has a week to get back to California. Then in that same week get to Texas for his MA schooling. He doesnt know how long he will be gone for school. So I am just going to go ahead and plan my 2005 year with out him. That is if he does get shipped off. I have my fingers crossed that he doesnt. Thursday will be one week that he has been gone. It already feels like its time for him to come home. The only thing I know is that he promises that after school and he finds out were he will be stationed that I get my apartment and my dog. LOL
I just love the way that he bribes me. b24.gif

When you both get married, the navy should give you both a house or give you both a housing allowence if they have you living on a base. What is his mos(job) going to be?

Yea I was thinking about base housing but I dont know yet if they will allow me to have my animals. Dogs and cats are ok but what about reptiles, ferrets, and foxes??

From what I have heard, from friends that are in the marines is that you can have pets on base, as far as I know. You would keep reptiles and animals that dont make alot of noise in the barracs, not sure about the base houses for married people but I would immagine that you could keep what ever you wanted seeing as how your not rooming with anyone you know. My mom will actually be taking care of my snakes for me while I am training and what not.

I just realized something. I thought when I seen that picture you both kind of looked familiar, I just looked in your profile and your from Escondido, Ca I was from Valley Center might have seen him at the recruiting office down there or maybe at Valley Center High School, I am fairly certain i had seen one of you before lol.

For some reason you are right you do look framilure but I am not sure were I have seen you from. We didnt go to Valley Center High.We both went to Orange Glen. I have only been to the recruting office twice. Maybe I saw you there. Maybe some where else? That is cool that I know some one that is going in to the servise that is kinda close to were I live. By the way you have some nice snakes. I'll take care of them for you, LOL.

Thanks for the comment although my mom actually agreed to take care of the snakes for me while I am gone. My parents also decided they wanted to live in Colorado so had to move out here with them until I leave for boot camp which is coming up pretty soon, just wish it was sooner lol would like to get it over with.

While i was in the military I had snakes and an iguana in base housing. You shouldn't have an issue. If you're worried just follow the "Don't ask don't tell" lol
Good luck to you and your fiance'
You too Mcghost

I have been in the army for 14 years and have never had an issue with keeping my snakes in housing. I even kept a small colony of mice for about 2 years at Ft. Lewis with no problems. I wouldnt suggest making it publicly known you have them, just follow the "dont ask, dont tell" rule as stated above.

Well I figured that I would post a follow up! Jimmy graduated from bootcamp I went and saw him. I swair that was the best two days of our lives. Thats when he told me that when he got his first leave that we would get married. He went to "A" School, graduated in Jan. We got married on Feb 12 in Las Vagus. He got sent to Italy one the 20 of Feb. I waited to hear news on when I could come out there and see him. June 28 I flew out here and desided to stay. I could only take my cat with me both my boas had to stay behind. An I am still here! ALthough the Navy wont sponcer me enless Jimmy makes it to E4. Which is really bothering me because that means that I have to leave here every 3 months for 48 hours. Its funny that someone should post something now. Last night I got the worst new is 10 years, my very first boid of anytype my very first boa "Mercutio" dyed. She was the one that got me hooked into boas. So it has been very hard on me. I feel as if I have let her down by not taking her with me. The people that I left her and my other boa with really dont know that much about boas. Just the basics. They said that they are unsure why she died, they found her curled up in a ball at one end of the tank with my male at the otherside. They brought her out to warm her up with a luke warm bath and she moved around alittle bit. Then they put her outside on the warm concret (There in AZ) and 45 minutes later he took her last breath. I am sure that I know what she died from, back in June I was leaving to go to the airport when I stoped to say bye to my snakes and the female had 9 slugs. I cleaned the cage then sped to the airport to catch my plane. I had said that they needed to take the male out and they never did. So I think that she might have gotten gravid again and her body couldnt take it. I dont blame the people who where watching them I blame myself. I should have taken better care of who I left my snakes with. I had given them Mercutio for there kids because I wanted then to grow up loving reptiles as much as I do and I knew that I could only take one snake with me as for now, so I figured that Mercutio was such a perfect snake that I have never had any problems with so I made the judgement to let them have her. So come Christmas time there kids will have "Santa" bring a present to there door via FedEx....which will hold a new baby red tail and a couple of books for there parents to read. Now my make focus is to get my male over here. And as of now I have only been getting the run around. When I get some strait answers Ill let you all know. As for now..I leave you with a single picture that says a thousand words for me..
