Hey Reid!! Good to see things are going well on your end! I have seen that in normal boas as well, but it does seem to be more pronounced in Anerys. If you have not seen the ovulation yet, that should be the pre ovulation twist. At any rate she should ovulate soon, ....my Anery is laying with her sides up quite a bit, I am guessing it has to do with heat regulation.....she is due around ThanksGiving!!! Being darker may cause them to retain more heat. Good luck,

Andy :'(

Those are some great pics!
Hey reidness, I hope you don't mind me asking. What is your routine for feeding females that are being courted?
Do you leave the male in there? Pull him out, feed her and put him back in? Wait awhile 'till she digests?
I have a pair courting and am a little worried because the female is looking kinda thin..

Thanks!

Andy, that is a good pic! i saw her swell about a month ago but i didnt see a huge ovulation and shed after! i did see copulation also, im guessing that was a pre ovulation swell and this will be the REAL ovulation, Suri what i usualy do is leave the courting couple alone as much as possible and leave them out of the feeding regiment for awile , then i will seperate and feed them, wait 2 days or so and put them back, i usualy pull the male and leave the female so when i put them together again the male is put back in the love shack and is a little more exited and ready to go! thanx reid

I awoke this morning to a very sad sight. My pregnant Anery female who was due to deliver on Nov. 27th 2005 had passed away.

She has been showing signs of what I thought to be normal discomfort, that I assumed was signs of just being overly full of babies....which I did not really think was all that bad. Laying on sides alot.

She was a very healthy boa, I had never suspected anything to be wrong with her at all.

The way I found her...and what I had been observing leads me to believe she was having trouble breathing, or maybe had a seizure ??? really I do not know.

I opened her up and everything appears to look healthy to me except the lungs look too white...??? What I mean is they do not have that pink look when filled with Oxygen, as I have seen in other animals. That also leads me to believe trouble breathing or suffication.

Her neck was laying twisted when I found her....maybe seizure? I do not know.

I will post pictures, but they would have to be under a graphic heading so others can pass by them.

It appears that there were 27 or 28 total egg sacks, 17 of which were babies.

I realize that when we are breeding any animals, there are going to be some painfull and sad experiences. Hopefully I can learn some things from this and others as well.

I can hope this is the last I will ever see this, but reality says probably not. Take care all.

aj.. man oh man! I feel for you! This is the dark side of breeding.
