This was my favorite and unexpected offspring from last season. Neither parents had a stripe. What do you think? How much would you think she is worth?

Nice striper! I wouldn't sell it. It could turn out to be genetic anyway, then you can put a price on it....

Do you have pictures of the parents? Looks like a jungle to me. I have seen a lot of similar looking animals but with various degrees of striping and nobody really knows if it is genetic or not. I have a striped male myself who will have offspring in 3 weeks, who knows what comes out.

Chris, I will post the pictures of the parents but I don't have any right now. The mother has a little striping but only between a few saddles. The suggestion of keeping her and using her down the road for breeding seems like a good idea and since I'm not strapped for money right now I guess I'll just keep her and see what happens. Thanks for giving me an idea of how much she may be worth and advice on what to do with her. :)

I agree, since she is unproven I would say 200-300 is a reasonable price on her, BUT (a big but.lol) If you can prove the striping is genetic you should be able to fetch a larger amount for her, or any of the genetic offspring. (My guess easily around 400-800 depending on the degree of striping)

I also agree I would keep her and try to prove her out.

Good luck with that project.

That all seems fair and reasonable to me! How big is she? I would definitely breed her once and see what happens! :'(
