Who believes that the coral in coral phase boas is a co-dom like trait and not recessive ? Basically that a coral albino is a product of a co-domish x recessive gene creating the visual animal .

I dont believe it is a single gene (recessive/codom) mutation at all. I think it works like Jeff's pastel albinos do, polygenic. They were produced from one of the initial hets from one of the original male albinos x normals... been around a while. If it were single gene it would have been pinned down by now IMO... Yes, the color does seem to sporadicly pop up later making it hard to pin... but I still dont buy it as a single gene mutation. I could be wrong though of course.

I agree with Jeff and Ryan that it is polygenic. Seems to be fairly similar to pastels, in it shows a nice build up of extra color but lacking in the reduced black in the hets (so shouldn't be classified as pastel even though it results in similar looking albinos) perhaps this would explain why many corals seem to have a more broken up wash of color compared to a true pastel albino, since the hets have black flecking at a higher rate compared to pastel dream hets.

I believe pastel and coral are both the samething. They each vary how much color they show. I've seen knockout coral albinos and I think we've all seen Jeff's insanely red pastel albinos. I have also seen soso pastel and coral albinos.
Before I forget. I believe its polygenic. On a side note... Is Peter Kahl's square tail boa a ladder tail boa? All he has are "hets" for sale.

I vote Polygenic as well.... I think if the trait were to be co-dom it would not be a gradual coraling up, as is the case with most I have seen. I may even be tending to believe that it is also the pastel trait....which is polygenic as well.
By the way for those of you who remember the boa I purchased from Jeff Ronne himself....she is even redder now! She is due to shed in a couple days, but the reds have surely intesified...to the point where I am pretty sure she would fit the coral class. A big thank you to the man...Jeff Ronne for her. I will be posting pics in the future of her, but I have a litter of babies due in 5 days or so...
Good luck all! Andy Federico - AJF Reptiles :'(
