He's been in the US Army since May of 89. He's still Active Duty. Right now he's stationed at Ft. Riley. :-*
HI,
Looking at those dates of service is sort of making me feel abit old
I served 22 years 6mos US Navy retired 1989
My primary Nec or Job title was Hospital Corpsman
I attended training with US marine Corps At Camp Le June,NC
this gave me a another NEC as an 8404 or Combat Field Medicine,
we go with the Marines when there's a war.
I also trained as a 8506 Adv Lab Tech for about 15 years
this what I did primarly in peace time..
My last Duty Station was Rota Spain and I served 5 Years
there as a blood donor recruiter and blood unit testing and processor and other lab tech duties at the hospital there .
I have trained with the Navy Divers at Panama Beach , Fla ,,luv them bubbles in da head.. ::).It was fun but scary at times
and also worked at a Small Med Disp at Bangor, Wash
..Almost went to Nam decided to go back to school and be a Lab tech much safer work than humping a pack with the marine corps. Gosh I loved the tour with guys though, and was suposed to go to Beiruit but team A from our unit went and I was on team B next to rotate as a replacement but they phased out that Beiruit air field deployment , when they blew up that Builiding..
I guess I ve been fairly lucky so far.
Say a prayer for the Men serving overseas I have a really bad feeling about that place. Its hard for Americans to realize how some people have no regard for human life theirs or other people and thats what really worries me about IRAQ. They'll strap alittle plastic explosives on their back and walk into acompound and whoosh. fraged a bunch of people ... :-X.

I will keep all posted on how things are going. I am currently an engineer...but served as a Military Police for 6 years including a tour in Bosnia. Off the the next big thing I guess, damn...had such great plans on raising Boas too. All well guess I can raise more of 'em when I get back. :-*

I am very concerned as well about our troops that will soon be going in to take out that madman and his equally evil henchman. I am afraid Sadam will not hesitate to use anything and everything we know he has against our guys. Let's just hope there is a little common sense amongst those that will actually deploy that nasty stuff over there and that they decide to just surrender it to us and not use it. Let's hope so.
Thank you guys (So far all guys). I get a little choked up reading these posts. I feel so humbled and grateful for all you have done selflessly serving our country. Keep these posts coming would ya!?

Well, give me a few days...
I was sworn in to the Navy Reserve last month (day after my 21st birthday). Would have gone full time, but I've got family obligations that make it impossible to move around a lot.
Unfortunatly, they keep pushing back my first drill weekend, so I've been waiting and not much else. Good news is, they finally decided on this weekend, so this Saturday I'll get to start. Wish me luck; 8 years starting tomorrow!

1982-1990 Electronics Technician - E5
Served 8 years during the Cold War, when it was very very tense at times. We acually deployed (out of the Pacific Fleet, San Diego) to 12 miles of the coast of Vladivostok (sp.) (Russia's Premier Naval Port) where we ran "Routine Ops" in "International Waterways".
Loads of fun, and I would never take for my training, experience and knowledge learned there.
Wish all of our young people could serve a couple of years in the military. I don't want a war by any means, but I also do not wish to be unprepared as the greatest country in the world.

You know as I read these posts regarding the service of you great Americans, and now that I am 43 years old and a little more mature and grateful for the good things in life, I feel very unworthy of the price that the individuals have paid who have served our country so faithfully, valiantly and sacrificially for all Americans. I am deeply grateful to all of you who served at any capacity and feel unworthy as I did not do the same. Thank you again!
I am also infuriated at those who loath what you do for your country. Those who have the right to say what they will against you and your good service as a direct result of the sacrifice that you, and those who have gone and many times died before, have been willing to make. Yea those who have even died so these thankless ignorant protestors who are unworthy to carry your bloodied and soiled uniforms can criticize and oppose the great AND honorable things our Nation does for the mostly jealous cowardly other nations of the world. Yes our great forces will give their lives to save many the world over while these protestors protest and curse you and the good you will continue to do despite the hatred and opposition that comes from them. They do not nor will they ever understand the meaning of simple words like; Honor, Duty and Country.
Thank you again from the bottom of my unworthy heart for your doing your Duty Honorably for your Country! :-*

You kids should all know that in addition to being an old geezer like myself Chris Jackson is one of those old Boa keepers from back in the olden days back when Boas were about as popular as warts but we still had our Boas didn't we Chris and still would even if the rest of the world hadn't jumped on the band wagon! Boa Whackos Hoohah! I didn't know you were a vet. Thanks Chris for serving our great country in an unpopular time. I hope you have heard many thanks from the quiet American who always appreciated your service in the face of the American haters who spit in your face and other great heroes who love their Country are grateful for the fact that you did your duty!
Thanks Chris for joining! Good to hear that you are still out there in San Diego enjoying that horrible weather no doubt!
Last time I heard from you was after I had sent a video to you of some of my best babies and told you that they weren't for sale. Frustrating I'm sure. Some things never change though. I still get to keep the best ones and still like to show them off. The point has never been to frustrate though Chris but to challenge to get the best that can be had and invariably produce babies just as nice, or nicer than the best you may have seen that I owned at the time. They are getting better and better. It doesn't matter that the parents are the best ones or not. The good looks are in the genes and the next best siblings can have some of that exact same great potential.
Enjoy the site and don't be hesitant to jump in whenever you want to. Most of our members are relatively new to Boas and could benefit from your insight! Have fun.

Served in the US Army as an enlisted man from 1967-1970; was in Vietnam from Feb, '68 - Apr. '70 (18th and 20th Engr. Brigades) . Discharged. Returned to active duty as a commissioned officer in August 1975. Did many of the jobs of an officer: platoon leader, staff officer at various levels and places. Commanded a company in Korea, 84-86. Was an IG from 86-90. Retired in Jan. 1993 just as that dirtbag from Arkansas was taking the oath of office.

Well, I always heard that snakes and Hawaii don't mix. You might not get to bring your scaly family along.
I assume you already contact the FWS for the forms and stuff? Have you looked at pet shippers?
There IS always smuggling in your shirt, for the adventurous with small critters who don't mind the risk of fines. Hee-hee. ;D JK (or am I?)
I personally would board the snake with a trusty friend or shop and just forget about getting my snakes into Hawaii. I think it might be a bridge too far...

If you have some time could you e-mail the forms you were talking about, or a link where I can find them? Smuggling is bad juju, but sounds tempting sometimes. Until, of course, you read the amount of fines you can receive, or worse! eeek!
Anyway, if you want to do it legal-like, go to this site and download the forms you need:

:-* My husband is currently serving his tour in Iraq. He has always wanted a pair of boas. So while he was away in training, I purchases a pair of Dumeril Boas for him. He is so excited to get home and spend some time with them. He did get to come home for 4days before he shipped out. So he has had the chance to see them. They are great snakes. We also have a pair of corns. I have obligated myself to take care of all of them until he is home safe. I don't mind though, anything I can do for my soldier! ;D
